Session to cover meQuilibrium research that found even employees in the toughest environments can still have positive outcomes when they have resilience

Boston, Mass. (September 26, 2017) — When the nation’s largest employers convene in Austin for the National Business Group on Health’s (NBGH) Workforce Strategy 2017 conference beginning today, they will hear cutting-edge research conducted by meQuilibrium on the value of resilience in supporting positive business outcomes. Dr. Wendy Lynch, a member of meQuilibrium’s board of directors and an established expert on the connection between human and business performance, will be part of a panel, “High Demand Workplaces Demand High Resilience,” covering how employers can help people thrive even in work environments where change is common and pressure to perform is high.

Dr. Lynch will share findings from “The Positive Effect of Resilience on Stress and Business Outcomes in Difficult Work Environments,” the first study to identify the independent protective effect of resilience against health issues like depression and negative workplace outcomes like burnout, absence and intent to quit in all work environments. In fact, even employees in the toughest environments can still have positive outcomes, such as greater job satisfaction, when they have resilience. The research runs counter to widespread belief that one’s environment is more influential than an individual’s resilience capability in determining an employee’s likelihood of success. The study first appeared in the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and was authored by a team of researchers affiliated with meQuilibrium, the leading data-driven resilience solution for the workplace.

In addition to Dr. Lynch’s research, attendees will hear two employers’ perspectives on the importance of implementing a multi-pronged emotional well-being strategy to promote increased resilience within their diverse, global organizations – and the results that can be achieved from these efforts. The session will take place on Wednesday, September 27 at 2:00pm CDT and the other panelists include:
• Diane Bullington, Director of Compensation and Benefits, Grant Thornton LLP
• Dana Grossman-Gormley, Sr. Director, Benefits, Level 3 Communications
