Participating Wellesley College Employees Reduce Anxiety by 15 percent with meQuilibrium

BOSTON, March 10, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — As part of its Healthy You wellness initiative, Wellesley College offered meQuilibrium, a digital coaching platform, to its faculty and staff of 1,200. Today, the esteemed women’s college announced that after two years of using the program, the anxiety of participating employees has reduced by 15 percent, and overall stress has decreased by 3.9 percent. Additionally, Wellesley’s medical spend is now below the regional and national trend.

“The reason we chose meQuilibrium was to change behaviors and create a culture of health on our campus,” said Marymichele Delaney, Associate Director of Human Resources Operations & Total Compensation at Wellesley College. “We believe meQuilibrium has accomplished that. The solution filled a void—helping people increase their emotional health and well-being, do it on their own time, individualized, and based in science. meQuilibrium played a key role in creating health, supporting behavior change, and keeping cost down on medical claims.”

Recognized as one of Boston Business Journal’s Healthiest Employers in 2015 and 2016, Wellesley’s Healthy You program targeted the three highest risk factors for its employees: stress, weight and blood pressure. meQuilibrium was integrated to address the stress risk factor, and successfully enabled participating employees to address and shift thinking styles and habits that were a barrier to good physical and emotional health.

The Healthy You initiative has helped to increase faculty and staff morale. In a recent survey, the college found that employee benefits are one of the top three offerings employees value most at the college. With meQuilibrium, faculty and staff feel like they have opportunities to engage in a valuable and flexible program that helps them reduce stress.

“The results from our work with Wellesley College clearly show how beneficial resilience training can be for employees,” said Jan Bruce, CEO and co-founder of meQuilibrium. “Employee mental and physical well-being is both key and foundational to successful business outcomes, and we’re happy to have the opportunity to establish a healthier work environment with such a well-regarded institution.”

The importance of reinforcing employee mental and physical health is further supported by recent data released by meQuilibrium, which correlated highly resilient workers with positive outcomes like reduced stress, better overall health, and increased job satisfaction.
